This is a simple, no-cook recipe that’s easy enough for kids to make on their own. With oats, peanut butter, cocoa, and maple syrup, they’re a good source of protein, iron, fibre, zinc, antioxidants, and a bunch of other vitamins and minerals, too. And they taste delicious!
1/4 cup peanut butter (or use seed butter for nut-free)
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp cocoa powder
big pinch salt
3/4 cup rolled oats
Use a fork to stir together the peanut butter, maple syrup, cocoa powder and salt until they form a paste.
Add the rolled oats, and mix and mash with your fork until the oats are evenly coated.
Use your tablespoon to scoop out bits of the mixture and form into balls with your hands. (Or make other fun shapes, like cubes!) The mixture will be a bit sticky at this point—tip: if you wet your hands, it will stick less.
Line up the balls in a container and refrigerate for an hour, so the oats have a chance to absorb a bit of moisture and plump up, and the power balls are firm.
